Dust of Snow by: Indra Vaughn
                                                               reviewed by: Becky

'Tis the season. Greg's nights are silent and his bells don't jingle. This time last year his boyfriend broke up with him, and he's determined to get through these holidays with only minor bruising. So what if he lives with a cat and his best friend is his mother? Peace and quiet: that's life how he likes it. Nothing is going to blindside him this year, no sir. Especially not a rogue secret Santa.

I love this story and all that it has to offer! There are so many different elements to this story that make it one to remember! You will fall in love with Greg, and want a happy ending for him and you won't be disappointed, but who is it with? I went away from this story with a warm and fuzzy feeling, and a hankering for an $800.00 cat!! Thank you Indra for giving us a wonderful story to curl up with this Holiday Season!  *5 Stars*

NOW THAT YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BOOK, LET'S FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE AUTHOR!! HERE IS MY INTERVIEW WITH INDRA VAUGHN:

Hello friends, we are here today with the lovely Indra Vaughn, talking about her new Christmas book Dust of Snow, and just Christmas in general, so let’s get started with our interview:

  1. I love this Christmas Story! Is writing a Christmas story something you have always wanted to do, or did it just come to you?

I LOVE reading Christmas stories. Honestly, its half the fun of the season to curl up with a good book in front of the fireplace and just read about people and their happy endings. Im usually all about the angst, but when its Christmas and Im bracing myself for a long, cold, dark winter, I need all the comfort I can get.

That said, I never thought about actually writing a Christmas story, and when I started Dust of Snow, I didnt think it would turn into that. I just started writing it around Thanksgiving, because at the time we were already so bogged down with snow, I needed to vent about it somehow. A character who hated the cold and was a bit of a sad sack seemed the way to go. The whole Christmas thing only came after I realized his confidence was so bruised he wouldn't be able to accept a present and not look for the catch behind it.

Bec- Those are the best books, the ones that have a mind of their own, and turn into whatever they choose to! I for one am so glad that this lovely book turned out the way it did!

2. I love Greg in this story, bless him, he just wants to live his life and not be bothered, it doesn't quite work out that way though! Did you have a certain person you based him on? (no names, lol just in general).

No, not really. I dont think Ive ever based a character on a real person before. It happens all the time that they take shape and Im writing and I end up thinking, Oh, thats something such-and-such would do, but I never consciously thought, HA, Im gonna write about YOU.

Bec- He is a great character, shame he couldn’t be a real person :)

3. The Holiday season is my favorite time of year, is there one holiday memory that stands out as your favorite?

Oh wow, thats a tough one. We celebrated Christmas in my family, but it was always fairly formal. My moms brother and sisters and my grandmother would take turns hosting it at their house, and it usually became a huge to-do about who cooked what last year and how were they going to top it this year. It was fairly good-humored though, but I wouldnt call it a relaxed affair.

As for Santa, I never really believed in him. Hes not as bigor didn't used to be anywayin Belgium as he is in the US or even the UK. We have Saint Nicholas on the 6th of December and that was FAR more exciting. Hed come on his white horse and drop gifts down the chimney and it was an occasion to crawl
into bed with my brother and wait to hear the hooves on the roof. I think for Christmas there mightve been a present or two under the tree, but I always knew they came from my parents.

Maybe thats why Im so drawn to sappy romance during Christmas time now, because ours was an occasion but it lackedhow should I put itmagic?

Bec- Our Christmas’s were never big or formal, but they sure were full of fun and love, so I am so glad I have those memories! Saint Nicholas sounds soo exciting, I love learning about different holiday traditions, and this sounds like a great one!

4. I will have to admit, the cat in this story is a Norwegian Forest Cat, you had this cat lover running to Google, and then wanted to pay $800.00 for one. Is this a cat you have, or one you just admire and how did you hear about them?

When I lived in England I had a friend who owned a Norwegian Forest Cat and that beast was the most majestic cat Id ever laid eyes on, short of a lion. At the same time it was the laziest, goofiest cat Id ever seen. Shed lay on my friends shoulders like a big damn scarf and hed walk around like that making dinner. I got a cat that looked a little bit like her later, but he turned out to be the grumpiest of grump. He would wake me up in the morning by chewing on my eyebrows and coming home from work was always an adventure because you never knew which cupboard he was under and where hed attack your feet from.

Bec- I have seen a picture of him, and he is very beautiful, but indeed looks very grumpy! :)

5. Greg has a secret admirer in this story, was it fun to write that part of the story line? You sure made it fun to read!

Ah well. Havent we all at some point wondered if we were maybe being admired a little bit from afar? I like to think of the people I crushed on in the past and never told and how sometimes I still think of them fondly, and then I let myself hope for a secret second that theres someone out there still thinking a little bit fondly of me too. Is that sad?

So yes, I really enjoyed writing that part of it. Greg is so low on self-esteem he needed to be admired a little bit.

Bec- He really did, I loved that aspect of the story, and how clever you wrote it, can’t wait for people to read it!
6. There was one guy in the story that hasn't had his HEA, can we expect his story in the future? I hope so, he grabbed me and he needs to be happy. :)

Yes. Thats all Im giving you. :p

Bec- Woo Hoo! That is enough, believe me, can’t wait!! :)

7. Last one Indra, do you think writing this Christmas story has opened you up to wanting to write more of them? I sure hope so, this one is so much fun, and so well written!

Im going to try. If I love reading Christmas stories its likeI dont know. A civic duty or something, to add to the existing pile.

Bec- Haha, I love reading Christmas stories, but I will leave it up to you to write them, you are so good at it, and well I really wouldn’t be!

Thanks so much for joining us today Indra! We have had a blast! I can’t wait for people to read this story, so glad release day is finally here! Come back anytime my friend!
