BELOW IS MY REVIEW ALONG WITH BUY LINKS AND AN EXCERPT! HERE WE GO:

OH MY THIS IS PERFECT FOR OWEN! HERE IS MY REVIEW:

Beneath the Palisades: Justice by: Joel Skelton
                                                                  reviewed by: Becky

Despite a spirited inner debate pitting right against wrong, Owen Grady is lured off a forest trail by a handsome stranger. Just as he is about to surrender to an urgent desire, Owen realizes he is making a mistake and attempts to leave, but the rejected man wrestles Owen to the ground and discloses he is a cop. Wrongly accused of sexual misconduct, Owen seeks legal help.

Ambitious young lawyer Brent Burns is a junior partner at Burns & Callahan, a law firm located within the Men's Center in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He takes on Owen’s case, determined to prove him innocent. But Brent can't possibly predict the obstacles on the bumpy road to an acquittal—not the least of which is an ethical taboo involving his heart, which threatens to defeat him before he ever sets foot in the courtroom.

Oh my word! I love this book so much, it is a wild ride that has you in it's clutches with page one and doesn't let up a bit! I loved that even though this is a book three, they are standalones, so as I said before, I want book one and two badly, but you won't have to read them to understand the story!

Man I don't do spoilers, so I am gonna have to navigate this carefully so I don't spill any beans ;P, this book is captivating, you feel for Owen and his obviously trumped up charges, and what he went through at the hands of a jackass, who also happened to be a cop!

Owen meets Brent when Brent takes his case, things don't look good for Owen, and when it is clear that his teaching band days are surely over, things seem to hit rock bottom. As attraction grows between the two, lines get blurry, and then get crossed.

Will Brent coming clean about his feelings for Owen hurt his case, and just how watertight is that case anyway? You will be on the edge of your seat as surprise after surprise comes your way! You will fall in love with this lovely cast of characters, and be rooting for them along the way!

Do NOT miss this book, it is a must read if there ever was one! Thanks Joel, for a read that takes us on a ride we have no desire to get off of!

NOW FOR THE EXCERPT YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR:

OWEN GLANCED out the back window of Officer Daniels’ SUV as his bike, after being partially dismantled, was crammed into the compartment behind him. In the brief period of time they had been on, the cuffs were starting to irritate his skin.

Overwhelmed by the enormity of his predicament, he struggled to stay composed. Bursts of anger, intermingled with raw emotion, churned his stomach until it ached. This thing, this officer who had lured him into the woods, was frightening. He guessed any attempt to talk his way out, or to reason with this despicable beast would not have a favorable outcome. In the short time they had spent together, he had seen enough to understand his opponent wasn’t playing fair. He had an agenda. Don’t provoke this psychopath. A tremor of fear gnawed at his core. What would it take for someone like this freak to drive him farther into the woods and—No! Don’t go there. He jumped when the hatch slammed shut.

“Okay. Off to the station,” Daniels announced as he climbed into the driver’s seat. “How’s the temperature back there? Want me to kick up the air?”

Cold, dark eyes peered back from the rearview mirror. Knowing he was being watched, Owen shook his head and stared out the window.

“Suit yourself. It’s not far.”

As they pulled out of the park, Owen spotted the dickcissel hop from a fallen log up onto the lower branch of a birch tree at the same time his door was automatically locked. He fought back tears.

What is happening to me? Is this guy really a cop? Why did he attack me?

He surveyed his surroundings for clues that would indicate this asshole was really law enforcement. With his options limited, verifying it would be a comfort. The cream-colored interior of the car was spotless—probably new. It still smelled new. He caught a glimpse of the dashboard and his fear nudged up several notches. Other than a GPS, which anyone could have, nothing distinguished this vehicle from his next door neighbor’s—no special radio, radar, or anything else official-looking. God, please don’t let this nut job be impersonating a cop. If only this were a bad dream—a ghoulish nightmare. He trembled as reality began to sink in. This could be his last day on earth.

They traveled in silence. Every inch of his body screamed in agony from his altercation back in the woods. Daniels had kicked and punched him hard several times. He could tell he was developing a black eye. It throbbed from its encounter with the tree. At least for now, there were no signs his vision had been compromised.

He was frantic to come up with an escape plan. If this was it, the end, he wasn’t going down without a fight. There wasn’t much he could do handcuffed in the backseat of a locked car, but he could try to make his move once they stopped. With his hands restrained, his only weapons were his feet, his head, and combined, the force of his entire body. He would have to time it exactly right to be successful.

Never show your cards.

Why that phrase chose that moment to surface was a mystery. It was the voice of his grandfather. A thought began to take shape and morph into something he might be able to build on. Strategically, it would be to his benefit not to divulge anything this creep could use to his advantage later.

“Hey, birdy.”

He looked up. The beady eyes were back.

“Be honest with me. You wanted my dick didn’t you? Before you went all freaky and hurt me. I saw you looking at it. It’s an awesome dick. Come on, admit it.”

“Yes,” Owen answered, hoping he had chosen the safest response.

“One of the best! Thick, long, and this is going to make you crazy.”

Look up and acknowledge this fucker. Owen forced himself to make eye contact.

“Just between me and you, I’ve seen a few dicks in my travels, and there have only been a handful—”

Owen closed his eyes until Daniels stopped laughing.

“A handful. Can you believe that? I should write comedy,” Daniels bragged.

Attempting to stay calm, Owen stared at the road ahead in hope of coming up with a plan. He needed to eliminate the fearful “what-ifs” flooding his thoughts. It would be a mistake to be caught off guard. Every second mattered.

“Here’s what’s going to make you as sad as I am right now,” Daniels said, looking at him in the mirror. “Ilove plowing this big dick of mine up a tight ass. And birdy, something tells me you’re going to regret for the rest of your life not having the opportunity to experience… me—my big, fucking dick.”

Repulsed at the thought, Owen leaned forward to ease the pressure of the cuffs that dug into the small of his back.

“It’s a fucking shame.” Daniels sighed and added, “A great big fucking shame.”

More silence. The car slowed as it entered the city limits.

Maybe he’s bringing me to his house so he can tie me up in the basement and torture me.

He felt a sense of relief when they turned off Main Street, into the police station.

He’s a cop. He’s a fucking cop.

THAT PART STILL MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH SOMETHING! YEP YOU WANT THIS BOOK FRIENDS, GET READY TO GET ON THE AMAZING RIDE THAT IS THIS STORY! THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK AT IT WITH ME!
